While I fondly remember family holidays on the Lancashire coast, it is only in more recent times that I have come to fully appreciate the raw beauty of our coastal landscape and the variety of opportunities it presents to anyone with a love of nature. The sounds of the waves breaking, the cry of an Oystercatcher, the scurrying Sanderlings, or the sight of a fishing smack on the horizon all give me a sense of wonderment about life on the coast. Exploring rock pools for photographic opportunities is simply a throwback to childhood when many hours were spent looking for treasure such as shells, crabs and pebbles. Nothing has really changed, I’m still a big kid at heart.
